Phuket Island Guide: Similan Islands
December 20, 2013Although Phuket has a warm climate all year round it can be prone to some marked differences. If you are hoping to invite guests to stay in your Phuket beachfront villa, it is good to have an idea of the general annual climate.
Phuket is sited in a temperate zone and has a tropical monsoonal climate, this means that the changes in weather in these
regions between summer and winter are usually relatively moderate, rather than extreme hot or cold, and it is unusual for the island to have rain falling on consecutive days.
Generally speaking there are 3 different weather seasons: cool, hot and rainy. The cool season occurs after the monsoon, lasting from November to February when cool, dry winds from the northeast arrive. The hot season is from March to May as the heat gradually builds before the monsoon breaks. The September-October period is the wettest due to the southwest monsoon, but can also be very hot! This is good to be aware of if you are planning on having a couple of relaxing weeks lazing round your private pool villa!
So when is the best time to visit Phuket for a holiday or as a guest? Weather wise it is probably during the cool monsoon season, from December through to March. The air isn’t so sticky and oppressive, and the cool breezes keep things pleasant. The average temperature is around 75F to 89F (24C to 32C). Of course this is also the peak tourist season, so if you can cope with humidity but not the crowds it may not be the best time for you!
June, July, and August are good months to visit for quieter beaches and cheaper prices, although there may be the occasional rain shower. The weather however is normally warm and temperatures normally range between 70F and 90F (20C to 33C).
Of course all of the above information is in general terms, but you can take heart in the fact, that whatever the weather is like in Phuket, you always have a Phuket luxury property to return to and enjoy!
