We have all been there, arriving at your location with twice as much luggage as needed, catering for every eventuality, and then after hours of careful packing, opening it to find a screwed up mess and lacking the 2 items you desperately need! Here is Vista del Mar Phuket’s guide to smart packing!
1. Know your location: do your research and know what weather to expect, what activities you will be doing and the general lifestyle. Understand the religion of the country you are visiting. For example, in Phuket there are many Buddhist temples where modest dress is required
2. Ignore the ‘what if’ scenario: Unless you are trekking down the Amazon or across the Sahara, it is unlikely you will be anywhere that doesn’t supply the basics! Most places in the world have some kind of shops (it’s amazing where you can find Tesco nowadays!) and anything urgent can be picked up, especially in tourism driven locations.
3. Pack easy–care clothes: Invest in a few easy wash and iron clothes that you love and will wear, and don’t take anything that is a ‘once only’ item. Mix and match your clothes for an easy put together wardrobe. Also 3 pairs of shoes is a maximum for any trip, a comfortable pair, a smart / going put pair and a weather appropriate pair.
4. Packing methods: Don’t lay clothes folded flat as they will crease. Either roll your clothes by laying the item face down , folding back the sleeves and then roll from the bottom up; or fold clothes together by laying half of one item on top of another and then folding them alternatively.
5. Vista del Mar is a development of luxury villas and whether you are staying for 2 weeks or 2 years our team specialises in delivering in all areas of luxury tropical living, there is nothing that we or our partners will be unable to help with!
